  2. I disagree. In the mid-80s and into the 90s, a 2×4 cost under a dollar. Today? Around $6. In 2000 a basic small truck (Toyota or Nissan) was a little over $11,000. Today the most basic stripped down model is double that. Plywood is up over 150% in the last year alone.
    Salaries sure haven’t doubled since 2000, or in the case of lumber, haven’t gone up 1-1/2 times in the last year.
    In 969, fresh out of college, I taught school and earned $10,000 a year. I bought a house and a brand new sports car (it cost $3,000). Today around here teachers earn in the low $30,000s while a crappy house that needs major fix up costs over $100,000 and don’t get me started on sports cars!
    The problem is NOT me (on retirement that isn’t keeping up with cost of living) or the workers.

    1. I respect your opinion. But don’t forget, corporate greed has a lot to do with inflation, and its true about being retired, and living off the pittance we get from Social Security. The average person should be getting a hell of a lot more, but thanks to Ronnie Reagan, when he took money from Social Security, and never replaced it.
