A Pondering Mind

A little of this. A little of that.

Windows 10

Has anyone downloaded and installed Windows 10?
I have been hesitant on doing it. I have read
some reviews, and point out that there are a
lot of good things, but it also has quite a few
bugs.

If any of you have, I would be interested in
hearing what you have to say about it.

  2. I’m afraid to! Hubby did it and his laptop is slower than molasses and he’s having trouble getting to the internet.

        1. Wow! He can uninstall it within 30 days from the date of installing it, and it will go back to the original Windows version that came with it.

          1. Thanks! I’m gonna tell him. I work on a PC so I might give it a try. I didn’t like 8 at ALL so I rolled back to 7 – that’s the reason I’m hesitating.

            2. I have been told (well, by Microsoft itself) that you can NOT reverse the upgrading step of going from win7 to win8. I haven’t tried though. How did you do the rollback ?

              1. It’s Windows 10 back to 7 and/or 8, 8.1

              2. Sorry, I think it was Don who mentioned the rollback – I’ve been avoiding the upgrade actually.

I’ve got Windows 10. So far it seems to be working fine. The best thing about it is the return of the Start button. I was lost without that on the previous version.

  5. I don’t know anybody who has 10 and actually likes it. You know damned well that 10.1 will be out soon. This is Microsoft’s way of saying, ‘Ooops, we f***** up. AGAIN.’ 🙂

  8. I was happily using Windows 8 (I know, I must be a mutant or something), but installed Windows 10 yesterday. It seems to be fine – it hasn’t messed up my passwords or desktop appearance and all my apps seem to work like normal. I disabled all of the privacy intrusions and sharing capabilities and “let me automatically log you into any public wi-fi hotspot” crap during installation, so that’s ok. I’ve also disabled “Cortana” so she can go $(#*#%(* herself quietly in a corner somewhere and let me do my own work. Must say I miss the Windows 8 “swipe in from the right” menu and resent having to hit the startup button in order to shut down. We’ll all adjust and it’s never as bad as the masses seem to complain. Beats not having computers – remember that?

    1. I’m using Windows 7, and never had a problem with it. Cortana is supposed to be like Siri, but I really don’t need to talk into a computer to tell them what I want to do. It was 1993 when I got my first computer. Windows 3.1 and slow as all fuck…
