I saw an ad recently which said “Cricket is a dream you have when your awake.” showing a boy with a bat over his shoulder looking quite wistful. I think for the spectators cricket is a game you can actually sleep through.
I think baseball is still a bit more exciting in that the players run around in a square instead of just (sometimes) running up and down. But I shouldn’t be too mean. When my son was little he was in a boys cricket team in England and he played out on a small village green one day. It was the most arcadian thing – the little kids all struggling out to the pitch with their oversized helmets and pads and gloves and, while I don’t think any of the kids even hit a ball, we sat around having tea and sandwiches and it was wonderful.

Not in writing a book, but doing papers when I was in college (sometimes)…

Same difference really. At least with papers it’s possible to score something with facts. Not so with fiction.

True, and you learn by the mistakes writing a paper and/or a book…

I have seen bits of it on TV, but never been to a game of cricket. Baseball can be exciting, and also boring, and it tends to put me to sleep…
