“Lightnin’ Hopkins was something of a fixture on the Houston coffee house scene so we were witness to eccentric blues brilliance close up. Then, believe it or not, along came the wave of the English cats like John Mayall, Eric Clapton and the Stones embracing the great American art form – the blues.”

I just read a biography of Lightnin’ Hopkins a couple of months ago!

It was very good. I learned a lot about his musical influences, the myth he created about himself, and he business practices. He insisted on being paid in cash per song to record. I didn’t realize how big he’d been on the folk music scene.
